Summer Style At the Beach

Since living in Southern California, the beach or pool have been the go to spots for us as a family so I decided to do my summer style for a day at the beach! When I go to the beach I always like to have a hat or something on my head.

New Items on Etsy

After a week of brainstorming, making as many things as possible, and two craft shows, I've finally been able to post some new items in my etsy shop!

These items are all handmade with a lot of love and care. Hopefully they'll go to fabulous new owners soon.

The Clutches ::

These canvas clutches close with a zipper, feature a strip of crochet detailing embellished with pearls, and measure approximately 8in by 5.5in

The Bracelets ::

Some more recent etsy listings are my crochet pearl bracelets. They come in a set of three, fit most normal sized wrists and look awesome by themselves or layered as a stack or with other jewelry. These can be made custom too, with different colors by special request.

I'm always looking for shops to check out on etsy, and feedback about my work, so share your pages and let me know what you think!

All Wrapped Up

While in the middle of reorganizing the other day I Found a pair of plain silver hoops, that I just don't see myself wearing. So what better way to spruce them up, and make them summer worthy then with a little DIY loving.

So grab a pair of forgotten hoops and some scrap pieces of learn how to make your own!

MATERIALS ::
1. strong fabric glue (I use Fabritac)
2. a pair of hoop earrings (any size)
3. DMC cotton embroidery thread

HOW TO ::

1. The first and most important thing to do is to pick your colors! You can use as many or as few as you want.

I picked a pale cream, a light orange, a bright red, and a dark brown.

2. To start wrapping, take s piece of the cream thread and the fabric glue. Put a small strip of glue in the inside of the hoop and push the thread into the glue. Place another strip of glue onto of the thread and carefully start wrapping the thread tightly around the earring.

***REMINDER :: for everything you do to one earring, make sure that you do the exact same to the opposite side.

3. After the string is wrapped approximately one inch down the hoops, cut the end short so only about a quarter of an inch is unwrapped. Put another dab of glue on the hoops inside and press down the end string.

4. After the cream thread is all wrapped then take the orange thread and the red thread and repeat the previous steps. Each color should measure about one half an inch. To start each color, just put some glue on top of the end piece of the previous color and continue wrapping.

5. These earrings are all about symmetry. So to keep all the colors even, after wrapping the cream, orange, and red once each repeat the previous four steps and wrap each color again starting on the other side of earring back.

6. To finish wrapping the earrings, take the brown thread and begin it like the other colors. Wrap until it hits the beginning of the other color. Then, cut the thread just long enough that it reaches the inside of the hoop, put a dab of glue on the metal and smooth the thread in so that it's ends are hidden.

Easy Breezy Summer Style

In summer, the best way to dress tends to be the easiest way. Throw on some cutoffs and a loose tee, a cardigan for the breezy days and your cutest pair of kicks for walking all over town.
I threw on this simplistic outfit before running out the door for a morning in the city with my father. The light colors and cool fabrics are perfect for the both the sun and the shade.

What are your go to outfits this summer?

'Clutching' on tight

One of the greatest accessories a girl can have is her purse. It holds a wide variety of precious and not so precious items. I for one would be utterly lost if anything happened to mine. For bags tend to be a woman's style prize and storage unit all in one.

And so today I decided to try my hand at making some tiny canvas clutches, with crochet and pearl detailing. These little bags zip up at the top and measure approximately 8in across by 6in high. They are perfect for stashing your camera and cash for a night out, or storing makeup, markers, and any other item you haven't found the perfect case for.

The beauty of clutches and pouch purses is that they are tiny enough to throw in a bag during the day filled with necessities, and large enough to hold their own on a night out and about.

This quick post is just a sneak peak of the new addition to my line, and they will all be available on etsy this coming week!

And thanks to IFB (find them at heartifb.com) whose weekly roundup post inspired me to try my hand at designing my own lovely micro-bags!

The Front Bottoms :: music to live to.

For the past few years my life can be generally charted by the music that I listen to. There's music to laugh to, music to drive to, music to cry to, and music to dance to. Then there's music that you can live to. Those songs, or albums, or artists, that if your life had a soundtrack they would make the list.

One of these artists is the Front Bottoms. Their two boys from Jersey who make amazing, honest music. I first about these guys when my friends opened a show for them in Philly. All I knew was that their photo on the facebook even was sick, and they had a weird name. When I heard them, I knew I'd found a band that would be with me for a while.

Recently, (as in only a few days ago) the Front Bottoms' second album "Talon of the Hawk" was released. I've had it streaming constantly. It's energetic. It's both happy and angry and the same time. It's emotional. It's passionate. It's something everyone should listen to.

I'm so excited to be seeing them play a hometown show at Maxwell's in hoboken, New Jersey on the 31st.

so do yourself a favor and press play. If you don't like it that's fine, and if you love it, well that's just amazing.
